Hibiscus is a genus of flowering plants in the mallow family, Malvaceae. It is quite large, containing several hundred species that are native to warm-temperate, subtropical, and tropical regions throughout the world. Hibiscus provides the body with many nutrients, such as calcium, iron, and vitamin B2, and moderate amounts of antioxidants, such as vitamin C, and anthocyanin, which provide it with red or purple color and help its antioxidant content for protection against damage resulting from oxidation of free radicals.
